Fr. Bob Jallas became pastor of St. Mary’s in July 2019. As Pastor of souls he shepherds with his parish family as they journey together into a deeper understanding of the mystery of Christ working in and through the People of God here in this parish family.
Fr. Bob was born and raised in Springfield, IL. He is the oldest of four sons of Joseph and Joan (Hutton) Jallas. He entered the seminary (Cardinal Glennon College and Archbishop Kendrick Seminary) right after graduating from Lanphier High School in 1976.
Ordained May 26, 1984, Fr. Bob has served at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Springfield; St. Thomas the Apostle, Decatur; St. Norbert, Hardin; St. Michael, Michael, St. Anselm, Kampsville and St. Agnes, Belleview; St. Matthew, Alton; St. Elizabeth, Granite City; All Saints, St. Anthony, and St. Joseph, Quincy; St. Mary, Pittsfield; Holy Redeemer, Barry; and St. Agnes, Springfield. He was also the Dean of the Quincy Deanery from 1999 until 2004.
Fr. Bob comes to St. Mary’s after a 12-year pastorship at St. Agnes parish in Springfield. As he did at St. Agnes, Fr. Bob loves having a Preschool-8th grade school, and looks forward to cheering on the St. Mary’s Thunderbirds!
